its minority over governor romney i could not find it anywhere. secondly i nnot find any basis to cla this president has eer been a very good debater. leaving people all struck with his skill, his languag his presentation. it just hasn't happened. that is the guy i saw show up. >> didn't say president obama was better than the crummy necessarily were superior. i think most importantly, this is less my view of president obama and more his view of president obama and his ability to do very well. that kind of overconfidence, we've seen this from the president before, the health care debate on stark display, what he really needed to push heallh care over that fal finish line was re esident obama, said he would decide i need to do another speech and it isn't th case. he is not that compelling a figure any longer, and i think that is part of the problem. lou: it was in august he went out to campaign for obamacare. the result is week after week after week he drove down both himself and obamacare. now, speaking of preparation, governor romney may forgo his debate preparation to exnd a paul ry

that are building an economy that works for the middle cla class as we dig our way out of a deep hole. what is your response to those questioning the validity? >> that's really interesting because i happened to see one of those chicago guys last night. i was with david axelrod. i asked him what do you expect about the jobs numbers? he says, i really don't know. we're hoping it will be good. so, you know, it doesn't surprise me that romney supporters are now going to take this very good news for the economy and for americans and say somehow the books were cooked. they just cannot stand, and they haven't been able to tolerate any good news about the economy, that somehow -- they've got to put a spin on it. so this is excellent news. i want to tell you, i will trade a not so great performance in a debate for great job numbers in terms of how this affects the american economy and the american people. >> congresswoman, the romney campaign has issued their own statement saying this isn't a real recovery. saying, if not for all the people who have simply dropped out of the labor force, the real unemployme

close race. it was a very clas race, and maybe this is just enough to tip it the other way. >> that was very charitable reading of what mourdock says. if the pregnancy is the gift that comes from the rape, what is that? it's a very -- it's a very tricky statement. i'm not going to ask you to read it. >> it's a tricky thing, but i won't take a position at all. >> you sort of did. let's talk about connecticut, which is interesting to me, it's like the sixth borough. lind day mcmahon versus chris murray. she's clobbered among women and trailing by three points in the rc poll of polls. you can't buy an election, can you, i guess? >> no, and i think that, god, that's been proven over and over again. ask meg whitman in california in 2010. she spent $160 million and still lost. you know what? for a state as blue as connecticut is, it's probably closer than it ought to be. i think that murphy did turn around a pretty disastrous performance in august and september is now, in fact, a couple of points ahead. this is not a big early voting absentee ballot state, so every day counts. a
